A friend of mine, Kelly, taught me a trick for falling back asleep; count from 400 backwards. My brain has long since learned to not be tricked by this so I have to pick an obscure number. Last night it was e-le-ven hun-dred ninty-eight. Somewhere before the countdown ended I fell back asleep, but when that alarm clock went off this morning I was not moving. After hitting snooze a few times I remembered one of my favorite principles . . .
SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO DO WHAT OTHERS ARE UNWILLING TO DO.
This morning that meant getting my butt out of bed and running. Other times it has meant getting in front of a group of people and speaking, volunteering, having that tough conversation with someone, and sticking with what is right over what is popular. It means putting yourself out there where others won't. It may be uncomfortable at first, but once you feel the self gratification you'll want to do it again and again.
To be successful do what successful people do or, as Nike says, "Just Do It".
